Family Law

We recognise that it can be a difficult and emotional time dealing with family law issues. At Patient & Williams we will ensure you receive a personal service in plain English.

One of the biggest concerns for parents when they separate is their children. During this time, some parents are unable to agree on care arrangements between themselves, and when this happens we can help. Where practical, we will assist you with trying to resolve the matter by negotiation and mediation, but sometimes the assistance of the Family Court is needed. At every stage, we will ensure your interests are protected.

We can advise you on all aspects of family law including the following:

  • Contact and Care of Children

  • Guardianship

  • Paternity

  • Child Youth & Family

  • Domestic Violence

  • Separation & Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce)

  • Relationship Property, including Contracting Out Agreements (prenuptial and separation agreements)

  • International Child Abduction (Hague Convention proceedings)

  • Claims against estates, including Family Protection Act, Law Reform (Testamentary Promises) Act

Another major concern at the time of separation is the division of assets. We can assist with negotiation regarding assets and debts, and also the preparation of separation agreements. If these matters are not able to be resolved by agreement, we can represent you at Court.
